#GOPdebate Puppets

Ripple had the privilege of teaming up with ProgressNow Colorado in anticipation of the GOP Presidential Debate, which took place in Boulder, Colorado in October, 2015. ProgressNow’s goal was to expose the influence of the Koch brothers – who will spend close to $900 million on the 2016 campaign — on warping the priorities of some of the top candidates, namely Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio. Ripple was instrumental in honing in on a strategy that would get noticed and deliver the message that we wanted. Our team brought in gigantic puppets of Bush and Rubio that literally could not be missed walking around the hot spots of Boulder along with a sign that read: “#GOPKochPuppets. Who’s Pulling Their Strings?” ProgressNow also flew planes over Boulder with a similar message. Essentially we provided the media with the best photo-op of the pre-debate antics. An abundance of media covered the puppets and our exact message, including the host of the debate, CNBC, which profiled our campaign just a few minutes before the debate started, when all eyes around the country were tuned in! The puppets also appeared in the Washington Post, Politico, USA Today, Reuters, ABC, Greenwire, Associated Press, Colorado Public Radio, Denver Post, Boulder Weekly, and many many more outlets. Plus tons of people took their own photos with the puppets and circulated them on social media. Progress Now’s Executive Director Amy Runyon-Harms spoke to dozens of reporters and told them: “Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio are nothing more than puppets of the Koch brothers, who have dedicated their personal fortunes to wrecking our democratic system.”
